Photo Sessions: Mentor Projects
For this first Orange Island & Koinup Photo Sessions of October 2008 ,
we are proud to host a great concept created by Trixibelle (Cala Rossini in SL) called “Mentor Project”.

Are you a beginner or an intermediary photographer in Second Life? Are you making art experiments and would you love to receive constructive comments from the most skilled Koinup members? Great, this project is for you.
Join us on Orange Island on Tuesday, October 14th at 12PM SLT to show your work to Koinup’s most talented mentors: Cala Rossini, Kali Meads, Kee Llewellyn & Ji Dallagio. They will review your work and make a deep analysis of it, they will also give you advices & tips to improve your snaps & use your favorite softwares.
So don’t be shy and come present your work or just watch others pictures. Is there a better way to improve and become an artist?
Who is Cala Rossini? Is you background related to photography?
Cala is pretty much the same person in both lives. An easy going, happy “housewife” who enjoys photography. With my mother being an artist I grew up in an artistic environment. Currently I use a combination of photographs and painting to produce comissioned pieces of art.
How did you learn taking pictures in SL?
I spent an evening being photographed by Ji Dallagio and while he was doing it I started taking snaps too and asking him what to do so. I’ve never looked back and he is still on of the best tutors around.
What’s the best photography trick that someone gave you in SL?
Ctrl Alt Shift 4 to get rid of all avatars in the picture. Ctrl Alt Shift 5 to get rid of all land. (thx Ahmad!!)
Which are your favorite photo related destinations in SL?
My favourite place to take photos in SL is my home at Shangri La North. I’ve used it in so many pictures as it makes a great backdrop. I placed everything myself with the aim of a place of peace and pleasure, not photos, but it proved to be great. Apart from that, I love Relic and any place you can rez.
What are your upcoming projects for 2008?
I’d love to set up a Koinup Gallery in SL showing a broad selection of Koinup artists, but I think that is more likely to be 2006 if someone doesn’t do it first. Apart from that basically to take more photos and get a lot better at photoshop.
